Reject Your Self to Reflect Your Savior
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you know Me, you will also know My Father. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:6-7
According to God’s Word, the more we let go of ourselves, the more we are able to reflect our Savior. The result of the release is an inward peace that comes by the emptying of all desire for outward things in our life. We then grow closer to God.
Therefore, if we seek a closer relationship to God through Christ, we must seek daily the perfect abandonment of “self,” without contradiction or complaint. As we lose our grip upon our “self” we discover the way, the truth, the life shared by the life and death of Christ. This message reveals to us that:
- Without the Way there is no going
- Without the Truth there is no knowing
- Without the Life there is no living
Because Christ is the Way that we must follow, the Truth that we must believe, the Life that we must hope for, we can trust that in knowing Christ we will discover:
- the inviolable Way
- the infallible Truth
- the endless Life
- the straightest, narrow Way
- the sovereign Truth
- the true, blessed, uncreated Life
If we abide in the Way, as Christ bids us to do by His Word, then we will know the Truth will certainly set us free, and we will attain the promised Life everlasting.
If we desire to be perfect, by faith we must surrender our all – claim no earthly ownership, and therefore deny most of all, our “selves.”
If we desire to possess a blessed Life and be exalted in heaven, despise this present life by humbling our “selves” in this world.
Take courage as a Christian, go forward with other Christians and our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, who will be found out front leading the Way. He is our guide, our forerunner, our helper – He goes before us and fights for us. Follow courageously, let no one fear any terrors along the way, let us be prepared to die valiantly in the battle, and not flee from the cross and disgrace the glory that will be revealed in us.
Christ promises us through His Word: If you continue in My Word, you really are My disciples. You will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free. John 8:31-32
My prayer today: Lord Jesus, I desire to be Your faithful disciple, but I know that on my own that is not possible. I only get in the way and am blinded to the truth about the life You require. Lord, I surrender all I am to You, and ask that You alone become the all in me. I have stumbled and fallen too many times, and I do not desire to end my life without You leading my life for the glory of the Father. I desire more than life itself to be declared your disciple. Please Lord remove me from the grasp of those who seek to harm me, and exalt me so I may point others to You as the Way, the Truth, and the Life that leads to the loving embrace of the Father in heaven. Please Lord do not give up on me. I desire to be your servant to reflect You as I live my life for You. Lord, I commit to prepare myself for the battles that lie ahead, but I know with all my heart the victory lies in You alone. May Your will, ways, and wisdom prevail! Amen.
